Mexico tries swapping Xboxes for guns in drug fight

MEXICO CITY--Police who have raided vice-ridden Mexico City neighborhoods in a push against drug violence hope to take guns off the streets by offering to swap them for computers and Xbox video game consoles.

Launching the program on Tuesday in the notorious inner-city barrio of Tepito, which police stormed last month, city police chief Joel Ortega said anyone who turns in a high-caliber weapon like a machine gun will get a computer.

Owners can swap smaller guns for cash or Microsoft's Xbox video game consoles under the plan.

Newly elected Mayor Marcelo Ebrard has moved quickly to restore order to the chaotic capital by going after well-known crime dens and clearing the city's narrow streets of informal vendors whose stalls have blocked sidewalks for years.

Organizers say they have 100 computers ready for the first wave of the program, each worth 8,500 pesos ($769) and equipped with software donated by Microsoft. On the first day, Olayo said the city received 17 guns, including 12 from Tepito.

sa mystery

truck 5 Mysterious Deaths At Texas Truck Stops Worry Drivers

When two bodies were found in a rig at a truck stop on the well-traveled route to Houston, some drivers figured it was an accident.  When another body was discovered there weeks later, they called it a mystery.

Now that two more bodies have been found at two truck stops, they are getting worried.

"You're scaring me now," said trucker Steve Fancher of Tulsa, Okla., when told of the grisly discoveries. "I'd better get on out of here."

Investigators have not established what killed the five or whether the deaths are related. But police said they might have been victims of a bad batch of drugs.

(sapd, , , the highest paid police force in the nation cant figure out how somebody died, , , but we can throw out guesses, , , which i have found normally to be entirely wrong.)

"Our experience would lead us to believe that ... this may be a case that somebody's either selling narcotics there or providing narcotics that may be laced with anything that could be lethal,"  "It's just a theory at this point, but that's the direction we're looking."

(our experience would lead us to believe, this may be, its just a theory, direction we are looking, , , and which direction is that?  north? south? east? west?  why not start by looking at the bodies?)

The first bodies were found Nov. 1 at the Petro Stopping Center on Interstate 10 in San Antonio. They were identified as Harry Ackroyd, 35, and Michelle Ackroyd, 32. Police said they did not know whether the two were truckers.

(nov. 1, , , lets see, , , this is late dec 2. and we at least have names, , , we didnt check for id, , , or drivers licenses, , , that would usually tell you if they were truck drivers, , , or maybe paperwork in the rig, , , i do believe i read they were found in a rig, , , and in over a month we havent been able to determine if there were drugs in their system in quantities that can kill?)

The Bexar County medical examiner's office said the body of a third man, identified as Byron Gonzales, was discovered inside a rig at the truck stop on Thanksgiving Day.

Police reported that a fourth person, Clifton Frank Lee, 62, was found dead in a motel room next to the Petro on Sunday.

A fifth man, Hubert Hardesty, 53, was discovered dead Monday in a stolen rig at the Flying J stop just east of the Petro.

no causes have been determined in any of the deaths.

In Hardesty's case, a trucker reported a foul odor coming from the cab of a parked flatbed truck on Monday, leading authorities to Hardesty's body, which police said was too decomposed to determine a cause of death. The trucker who reported the foul odor told police he saw blood on the gas tank.

(the trucker who told the police said, , , well, , , was there in fact blood on the gas tank? ? ? or did we not look at it?)

"It may be a fluke, but obviously it doesn't look like it," said Ray De La Luz, a manager at the Petro. De La Luz said he and his staff are constantly shooing drifters and others from the parking lot who are not supposed to be there.

(aha, , , finally we have a suspect, , , drifters)

just when i was wondering what i could blog about here, , , i remembered sapd, , , hey, sapd, , , did you ever make an arrest in the  virginia jefferies or  (jefferys) murder around 11 years ago after mejicojohn and sanantoniosluggo solved it for you and gave you names, addresses, and location of stolen merchandise from the murder?

i know you recovered the merchandise, i know you interviewed 3 of the perpertrators, i know you had confessions from them, what i also heard is you had made no arrests because the other 3 said the 4th perpetrator did the actual killing (altho there were multiple murder weapons involved) and he had ran back to cuba, , , , hint, , , nobody runs back to cuba.  and no, neither i nor mejicojohn knows where he is or for that matter any names of any of them, , , weve slept since then and we dont keep records, , , like you are supposed to.

disclaimer:  no, mejicojohn is not a snitch.  these 4 strangers to mejicojohn happened to murder and rob a woman who was a friend of mejicojohns.  mejicojohn in fact found the body when he went to check to see if she was ok at the request of sanantoniosluggo.

at a glance of the crime scene, without poking around and scrutinizing anything mejicojohn determined a time of death (which was correct) as 3 days later than the sapd estimate, he determined a cause of death, he observed crime evidence in and about the house left undisturbed by sapd during their investigation.

at this point, mejicojohn determined it was best he investigate and solve the unsolvable on his own (with the help of sanantoniosluggo)

since mejicojohn could not legally detain and execute the perpetrators, he then gave the case back to sapd, , , , , , which was his only mistake.

and anyway, , , back to the truck stop murders, , ,  i see somebody shooed off the drifters, , , case closed, , , till next time.

the war against the united states is well under way, , , and presently the us is losing.   while jr is warning of terrorists, our legislators are already under the thumbs of our enemy.

terrorists are the least of our worries, , , or should be, , ,  our homeland security is useless.

Thinly Disguised War on Christianity Thrives

In this self-congratulatory age of multiculturalism and hyper-tolerance, what religion other than Christianity is treated as inherently offensive? In fact, haven't our cultural high priests instructed that we dare not find other religions offensive, but must even enthusiastically embrace them for contributing to our diversity of ideas and values?

Of course they have, but that admonition -- as all but the most inattentive recognize -- doesn't apply to Christianity, as this year's annual war on Christmas demonstrates once again.

The city of Chicago asked organizers of the German Christkindlmarket, a downtown Christmas festival, to reject New Line Cinema as a sponsor because its advertisements for the movie "The Nativity Story" might offend non-Christians.

Isn't that line getting a little old, especially in a nation where some 90 percent of the people supposedly identify themselves as Christians? It's always easy to say people might be offended, because some people are always in a desperate hurry to be offended.

But what is more likely is that activist organizations like the ACLU, various atheist groups and other radical secularists want to create the impression that Christianity is offensive in order to diminish its influence and its presence in the public square.

having a hard time getting motivated here as im dragging myself into the dirt daily trying to get this apt straight.  dont seem to have time to do anything, , , keep getting interrupted with my business in san antonio, , , dont they know i dont work anymore? ? ?  im a politician (kind of) now till im king, , , a king isnt a politician.

i mean, , , i know i have all the answers, , , but im not always gonna be here with  all the answers, , , and how did they get by when i was in mexico?

hey, check this out, , , i got something that wasnt made in china. , , , ok, , , i bought it (actually them) used.

                                          Picture 37

i couldnt get too close to it with my web cam, , , cord wasnt long enough, , , but heres the other one, , ,

                                         Picture 39

with the tax, they were a little over $8 each.  it took a dolly to get them into the house, , , a forklift  brought them out, , , one at a time, , , and 4 of us got them in the truck.  i dont think they will collapse with the weight of the computers.

                                        Picture 38

now compare those with the chinese counterpart.  i know that is gonna cost me one day when the weight of the computer collapses it.  i do have one a little sturdier, , , but i gotta find the screws to put it together, , , and come to think of it, , , its bigger, , , not better, , , i think i better be on the look out for one more like the other two.  now i see why the reggaetonrapper is so smart, , , he has 2 brains.  and yes, , , he has a web cam, , , its on top the monitor.
